Extensor tendon injury

Tendon injuries occur with a cut to the back of the hand or fingers. It is the inability to straighten your fingers

Flexor tendon injury

Flexor tendon injuries can occur with a cut to the front on the fingers, thumb, hand or forearm. It is the inability to bend your fingers.

Trigger finger

Trigger finger is a condition where it is painful and clicking commonly occurs with finger bending

Thumb arthritis

The base of the thumb can become painful as you get older resulting in tenderness, stiffness, weakness of the thumb.

Hand & finger fracture

A fracture or break in the hand or fingers is a common hand injury often occurs with a fall or during sport

Mallet injury

Mallet finger occurs when the tendon to the tip of the finger is torn or damaged. You will not be able to straighten your finger.

De Quervain’s

Often seen in new mothers and causes pain on the base of the thumb and wrist.

Skier’s Thumb

Any extreme force to the thumb in the opposite direction can cause a sprain or strain, but injuries can also occur as a result of a fall, or jamming the thumb.

Finger tip injuries

They are common injuries and range from minor cuts to major damage to bone and surrounding soft tissue. Fingertip injuries include the end joint of the finger, the finger pad and the nail.

Swollen hand

A swollen stiff hand after injury should always be looked into by an experienced Hand Therapist.

Carpal tunnel syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is pins and needles and numbness in your thumb, index and middle fingers.

Cubital tunnel syndrome

Cubital tunnel syndrome is pins and needles in your little and ring fingers which can come and go initally.

Complex hand injury

Complex hand injuries involve injury to multiple structures such as bone, tendon and nerves.

Finger tip arthritis

Osteoarthritis is common in the tip or distal interphalangeal joint of the hand resulting in pain, swelling and loss of function.

Tennis elbow

Also known as lateral epicondylitis, is a condition that involves the tendons located around the outside of the elbow

Golfers elbow

Also known as medial epicondylitis. This conditions involves pain around the inside of the elbow.

Wrist pain

The supportive structure called
the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) makes the wrist joint stronger and more stable.

Ganglion cyst

A ganglion cyst is a firm or spongy, fluid-filled lump that grows from the lining of a joint.

Dupuytren Contracture

Dupuytren disease, is a condition in the hand that causes the fascia, or layer of tissue beneath the skin, to tighten and draw the fingers into the palm.

Finger dislocations

Finger dislocation is a common injury and occurs when bones are moved from their normal position eg when playing sport

Wrist fracture

A wrist fracture is usually caused by a fall on an outstretched hand or through contact sports and physical activities.

Nerve Injuries

Pins and needles, numbness & altered sensation and muscle weakness are signs of a nerve injury
